2006 Season - Week 2
Trading Day 1As mentioned last week Trading Day 1 will be before the week 6 fixtures on Sunday Oct 15th. We will trade at 4:30pm before the Sky doubleheader and with 48 players still yet to open their accounts this could be a good time to lose the deadwood. Also injuries to key BUMS are preventing them from reaching their true potential, QBs Aaron Brooks & Trent Green are out, Clinton Portis missed Sundays game and a number of BUMS Wideouts are injured including Steve Smith, TJ Houshmandzdeh, Terrell Owens, Keenan McCardell and Joe Jurevicius.
Five TV Competition
Don’t forget to enter the weekly Channel 5/NFL prediction competition. If you’re not in it yet go to www.five.tv/competitions and click on the ProBowl logo. This takes you to the nfluk website, to register. Use your BUMS team name so we can identify each other. So far all 5 BUMS I know about scored 11 out of 15, not a bad start. Overall three players got all 15 correct. Let the rest of us know how your picks did.
The First Ever Draft
A little delve into the NFL archive answers Johnny’s question about who was the first ever BUM drafted. On August 23rd 1995 6 BUMS gathered for the inaugural BUMS draft and after a 4 year old Marcus ran the lottery for picks Mark Bowden selected QB Steve Young with the first ever pick. The rest of the first round ran… 2) Cheryl - QB Drew Bledsoe, 3) Johnny - RB Emmitt Smith 4) Andy H - QB Brett Favre, 5) AP - RB Thurman Thomas and finally (thanks son) 6) Gareth - WR Jerry Rice. Pick 54 and Mr Irrelevent was TE Kyle Brady but with the 52nd pick Andy H selected St Louis 3rd year running back Jerome Bettis. The Bus appeared on a BUMS roster every year until his retirement this year & was inducted into the BUMS Hall of Fame in 2004.
BUMS on Seats.
The Sky Red key extra games worked out really well with both of them going to overtime. We will be at HQ from 6pm on Sunday evening to see two important divisional games, Cincinnati v Pittsburgh followed by St Louis @ Arizona. Unless of course we hit the red key and watch Jacksonville @ Indianapolis and NY Giants @ Seattle. All are welcome, let me know if you are coming.
